The spot
Arbroath surf is quite fickle, but it can be worth keeping an eye on when there is enough North Sea swell. The spot sits around West Links / Elliot Beach in Angus, Scotland, which is mostly a beach break. If the swell is big enough, it can actually wrap around the north end of the bay and create kind of a point break - but it really needs something quite big here, as it's quite sheltered compared to other spots along this coast line.
Generally quite a mellow and uncrowded spot, so perfect for beginners and intermediates. I'd only really recommend if the other areas are getting far too big, although that's quite uncommon.
I don't think there is much of an ideal tide, and seems to work best on any.
