Portrush East Strand

Also known as Curran Strand, this is the eastern beach that resides right outside Portrush. It's a massive beach break, that eventually blends into the White Rocks Beach. Routinely gets a "Blue Flag" award, so it's usually kept quite nicely too.

Seasonal lifeguards operate at the western end of the beach, but you can typically surf wherever.

A live webcam is thankfully hosted pointed directly at the usual surf spot in this area too.

Lineups

It doesn't really have any specific lineups, or ideal tide ranges, as the sand bars tend to dictate how things break. Most people tend to surf at the area next to the car park though, mainly out of convenience. Tends to be much bigger than the West Strand, mainly due to it's exposure pointing directly north, capturing a lot of northerly swells.

Scene and Rentals

Portrush is home to Troggs, the local surf shop, who have been operating since 1984. Ian and Andy Hill are a core part of the surf scene here, so if you're in the area you should check out the shop. Board and wet suit rentals available at the shop, or seasonally, at the beach itself.
